RC Everbeck has just completed his staring role in
the feature film "Lie Detector", playing the lead
character, David Wellman. Pre-production for
Everbeck began early June ‘04 with extensive rock-
climbing training with renowned climbing expert,
Ascanio Pignatel. Mid-August brought rehearsals
in Portland with French lessons and FBI protocol.
Principal photography began production early
September 2004 in Portland Oregon. Two months
later, Portland was once again the site for pickups.
Finally, in June ’05, ten days of pickups and
looping finished RC’s run on “Lie Detector.”
“Leading a picture like this, knowing that there
would be 300 people ultimately counting on me to
do a good job, has been life changing. I worked so
hard to live up to my responsibilities. The pressure
was immense. I think that it was a blessing in
disguise that I was so far from LA where I live.
Where everyone else had family and friends on
their off time, I only had “Lie Detector.” I was
consumed by it, but strangely, I loved it. I was
keenly in tune with every aspect of the film. I
count my blessings for this situation, which
allowed me to lead a picture of this stature.”
"Lie Detector,” a taut, plot-driven psychological /
action thriller, is the largest feature film produced
in the Northwest in 2004. "Lie Detector" weaves
its way through superpowers, the world of hate
crimes, international espionage and high-octane X-
sport-action, with a family overtone and the thrill
of an FBI buddy picture.
British super-star, Richard Topping, playing Spence
McKenzie, and Karla Mason, playing Katherine
Wellman, (“As The World Turns,” “That’s
Entertainment,” over 20 Broadway plays) co-star,
round out the above the line talent, bringing the
expertise of veteran film actors.
RC gives his director, Scott Forslund, who co-
wrote and produced “Lie Detector,” the credit for
driving him to excellence. “Scott was never
satisfied with an “OK” take. He would push the
envelope; He would make us give more than we
knew that we had inside. He trusted us as actors.
He trusted our instincts. He would make us deliver
what we didn’t think we could deliver. He set lofty
goals and pushed us to greatness. He one of the
finest teachers; one of the finest men I have ever
known.”
Scott Forslund and Tim Ryerse (co-writer and co-
producer) created this high-risk twisting story
which takes the audience from terrifying 3,000
foot vertical walls to the confused world of brain-
damaged David Wellman. Underscored by themes of
recovery, redemption and the role of family, "Lie
Detector" tells the story of special agent David
Wellman, Portland’s chief FBI polygrapher, whose
injuries from a horrific car crash rips apart his
personal life yet brings powerful insight into his
work as an FBI agent.
RC Everbeck recently played the starring role of
William H. Bonny in the film Billy the Kid. He has
also had roles in Spiderman, Sneakers and Pretty
Woman.
RC is a USC graduate, originally from Boston,
Massachusetts and now resides in Santa Monica,
California.
